Frédérique Messier: When Desjardins phoned to tell me I had won, I was really moved, really happy.

Frédérique Messier: So I said I'm going to donate to Opération Enfant Soleil because it's an important cause. When my little cousin was sick, they treated her. They received donations. She had leukemia, and it's been 10 years now and she's doing great.

Paul-André Côté: Opération Enfant Soleil's mission is simple: we raise money that gets redistributed to 4 large centres as well as community organizations and provincial health centres.

Paul-André Côté: Here at the Douglas Institute we work with them [Opération Enfant Soleil], and thanks to Frédérique's generous donation, we were able to buy a piano to provide hours of amusement for the kids.

Roxane Gal: We treat patients age 12 to 18 with various mental heath issues and eating disorders, kids who suffer from depression or first episode psychosis, and all kinds of mental health diseases.

Stéphanie Laurin: I visited this clinic for help with my homework. Not all parents are going to take the time to sit down with their kids. But they took the time to sit down with us. There were dinners with all the kids, where everyone helped out a little bit. Maybe you didn't have these kinds of memories at home but you had them here. They help kids a lot. It means a lot to me because that's usually where you start becoming the person you're going to be later as an adult, and I think it's a really important part of life. So I wanted to help, to give children a chance who might not have the same opportunities as others.

Philippe Sauvageau: We had only 1 appointment at Sainte-Justine to get an X-ray for something: there was a little click in my son's hip. We also volunteered here for a day, and the people were really nice. It was a fantastic environment for children, so it was a pleasure to choose this charity.

Doctor Arielle Lévy: The mother and child simulation centre offers simulation training for all kinds of healthcare providers like respiratory therapists, nurses and doctors.

Doctor Arielle Lévy: Donations are used for a lot of things. Some go to training healthcare providers, and some go to purchasing equipment. There are resuscitation exercises for parents and families of severely ill children. And the equipment purchased helps us make reservations, gather statistics and conduct evaluations.

Philippe Sauvageau: Sainte-Justine is a place that helps children deal with illnesses. We're really happy to have it nearby. In a way it's reassuring because if one of our children has a more serious illness, we know there's a specialized place with true professionals who are there to help us.
